When the Docie fire started, I cried. It was something I could not wrap my fingers around. It just hit me hard. Mother Nature was tearing at her heart. From the campus, I could see the flames. Hot. Red. Angry. The firefighters kicked this ones ass.
Then came the Yarnell Fire. Tragic. I sat in my office at Yavapai College and shed tears.
These tears were for families, friends, forests, and frightened animals. What a tragic, haunting thing to happen. I see people and animals housed at out community college who no longer have homes. I feel their sorrow. I feel their pain. The once beautiful Yarnell, is now a charred, blackened world. It will take years to grow again.
Please take a moment of silence tomorrow as those 19 men are transported back to their homes. No matter where you are, or what you are doing, remember them, their families, those people who are reeling from the fire. Remember the animals, and remember the earth.
Thank you for listening. Blessed Be.
