This is my favorite place to hang and listen to great tunes. The "chatter" is usually one to make you smile as well. I find after a couple hours on a Saturday Night, I'm good to go for the week.
A little history lesson for you...
Back on August 17, 2007, I decided to try this Second Life world I had heard of in several workshops at an eLearning Conference. This adventure was a petrifying event for me, as I am not a gamer. I know. Funny...I teach Video Game Development...
Anyone who is older than ten years within Second Life can remember the very minimal instruction received to be able to walk, talk, and survive.
After FINALLY finding an option to leave the "Welcome" area, I would up on an island with a few others. Two of us took to sitting by the water and just marveling at the beauty this digital world created. It was a visual overload for me!
While sitting there, in our old style avies (still have that original one), a female avatar with long flowing hair, and a beautiful, formal, red dress that swayed with her movement appeared. She asked if we liked music and if we would like to try a few clubs. It was debatable for me as the water, and the sound of the lapping waves were so soothing.
The first club we entered was a Jazz Club. I was mesmerized by the couples dancing, and sitting around. This was AMAZING stuff!
Our second club was Hot Licks. Again, the same awe struck person. I was unsure as to who to speak with, or if I should. What I remember about the club was the music, and the banter within the chat.
We then shot out to another harder rock scene. I know this place is still around, I've seen its name in chat. When I remember (first cup of java), I'll add it here. This place was fun. The music louder, and harder. Yep. Another great stop.
Anywhooooooooooooooo
I started heading over to Hot Licks to listen to tunes while I graded. Eventually, I learned how to communicate and became OK with saying silly stuff. The folks there treated me with no disdain when I'd show up in weird outfits, or not be able to slap a Chimera quick enough.
When there are major "events" in my world, I am often at this place; sharing with folks...even though they have no clue. In fact, last year, the club was closed during one of those times. It was the first time in ten years I could not, nor anyone else, be there. Crazy as it sounds, I was a bit lost. In fact, was going to share to these rockers what the day was really for me. Anyone who knows me will tell you that is huge. In both environments, Digital and Physical, I am very private, and a loner.
Thanks for listening.
